This foundation course will explore the elements and principles of art through a variety of projects both two-dimensional and three-dimensional. Projects will be inspired by integrating art history and other subjects across the curriculum. This course is a prerequisite for all other art courses except AP Art History and CCP Art 1010.

For the student who does not want to specialize in a certain area but wants to explore art media two-dimensionally. This course is a continuation of Art Foundations and will encourage further development in foundation skills through design concepts using various two-dimensional media. The focus will be on using previous knowledge of the elements and principles of design. Materials and techniques may include printmaking, drawing, painting, computer, photography, collage, or mixed media.

For the student who enjoys expressing themselves through the construction of 3D forms. Explore the world of sculpture through a variety of media and processes while continuing to study the importance of the elements and principles of art within your work. This is a studio-based class that builds upon the design concepts from Art Foundations. Materials you will be working with may include clay, paper mache, wood, plaster, and found objects. This course is designed for the student who does not want to specialize in a specific area and likes hands-on activities.

We will use UNITY, one of the world’s leading game development engines as well as various software such as Blender to create character designs, environmental objects, props, and animations used in various game types. * NOTE* This course may aid in working toward a User Artist certification in UNITY.

Take this course to learn Photoshop and basic photography methods to transform your everyday photos into totally awesome works of art! All students who take this Advanced Placement course will be required to take the AP exam, which is administered by the College Board in May. There is a fee associated with the exam, which will be included in the student fees.
Depending on enrollment may be offered alternating years. (Planned to be offered 2026-2027)
The AP Art History course covers art from Paleolithic through Postmodernism and is designed to provide students with the experience similar to an introductory college-level art history course and prepare students for the AP Art History Exam. Students will be welcomed into the world of architecture, sculpture, painting, and other art forms within diverse historical and cultural contexts. Students examine and critically analyze major forms of artistic expression from the past and present and from a variety of European and Non-European cultures. In this course, students engage in both visual and historical study about art and its contexts through research, discussion, reading, writing, including visiting art with trips to The Toledo Museum of Art. This course will be designed around the big ideas and essential questions of the AP Art History course and exam description. Many colleges and universities offer advanced placement and/or Arts and Humanities credit to students who perform successfully on the AP Art History Exam.

Are you ready to take your art to the next level and create a portfolio you can be proud of? AP Studio Art is a college-level course designed for motivated student artists who want to build their skills, develop their artistic voice, and create powerful, portfolio-quality work that may earn them college credit.
You will choose a focus area—2D Design, 3D Design, or Drawing. You’ll experiment with different materials as you explore techniques, and learn to communicate ideas through your artwork.
Throughout the year, you will experiment and refine your art toward a self-driven sustained investigation to develop a portfolio for the AP College Board submission in May. The portfolio is in place of an AP exam.
AP Studio Art will help you build confidence and grow as an independent creator while working toward college credit.

Did you know you need at least one Arts and Humanities credit for most degrees and this course fulfills that requirement for many universities? This course is designed for NON-ART majors. It is for students going into other majors that require a Humanities credit such as business, science, etc. You will be learning about the art world and its impact on society as well as creating art to gain an appreciation for the arts. This is an introductory college course.
