Oliver Morgan - Final Draft Education Manifesto

Manifesto

What is school for? This is the question that we asked ourselves when we were writing our education manifestos.

LT: I can articulate what I believe the purpose of education to be.

This is my education manifesto. For this project, we had to figure out what we think the purpose of education is and then write an essay about what we think we should learn, future preparedness, collective responsibility, and personal goals.

Infographic

Why study our place? What are environmental ethics? How are we connected to our environment? These are questions we asked ourselves when we designed our place based infographics on Canva.

LT: I can educate others about my place/environment research topic by creating a visually appealing and informative infographic.

This is my place based Infographic that each of us created to teach people about our land right here in Idaho. I made my infographic about native and invasive plants and what we can do to save the natives.

Human Rights

What are human rights?

Who is silenced and why?

Where and why does inequity exist?

These are the questions we asked ourselves when we researched a specific human right, and created a slide show about it.

LT:

I can define inequality, equality, equity and justice in my own words.

I can identify and reflect on human rights - in Idaho and in the world.

Equality: equality is when everyone receive the same treatment no matter their needs.

Inequality: Inequality is where one person gets more than other people, even though they might have the same needs.

Equity: equity is where people get what they need to function when they may have different needs.

Justice: when things are fair, and just, and everyone gets what they need.

This is my human rights slides. I learned more about the fact that some people who speak a different language, or who have different colored skin. I also learned about the spiral of injustice, it's so powerful!

Solutionary

What in the world is unfair?

Why do we need solutionaries and solutionary thinking?

How can I create a project to have an impact?

These are the questions we asked ourselves when we picked an issue in the community or the world and put a project in place to address it.

LT: I can think critically about root causes of real world problems in order to become a solutionary, designing a project with an authentic solution to a problem I care about.

This is my solutionary project, I decided to focus on electric cars, gas cars, hybrids, hydrogen, and what is the most sustainable option.

Book Club

Where do we want to see change in the world?  What does justice mean and who is responsible for creating it? These are our guiding questions when we worked on our book club.

This is my tic tac toe, which is something that we did as a reflection to reading our book club book. My groups book was called The Rock and the River by: Kekla Magoon, and I would give it a 4.5 stars.

I think that my group worked really well together, and I would like to stay with the same group. It was nice to get to talk to people about the book after we were done reading, and we wouldn't have gotten to do do that if we worked alone.

I want to see change in the world in the aspect of discrimination, which is what my book was about.
