Purpose: The purpose of the Slingshot Project is to practice recording the steps of a project on web-portfolio.
Today, we sawed a square of wood for our slingshots, then drew the shape of the slingshot that we wanted, learning to use the shape of the wood to draw. we could only use right angles. The dark sections represent where I'm going to cut.
Using the jigsaw was quite easy, but there were lots of safety rules, such as starting the saw before it touches the wood. Getting the middle part cut out was hard, too, because you had to drill a hole for the jigsaw to fit in.
We got to paint our slingshots. I painted mine black on the two sides and green on the edges. I wish I hadn't painted it, because it felt smoother and (in my opinion) looked better without paint.
What were the final results?
I love my slingshot! I shoots weird, but it is fun to see what works better and what works worst in terms of shooting it.
What do you know now that you didn't know when you started this project?
I know how to use a jigsaw, how to use the shape of the wood to my advantage.
What advice would you give to future students about this project?
I would tell them to not paint their slingshots and also to use heavy paper for the shot.
What else would you like to try that you didn't have time for?
I would like to try to use more variety of materials for the slingshot shot.
What proof do you have that shows you learned the project’s purpose?
I have my digital portfolio journals and pictures.
