First Collage
Self-dig Collage
A few steps we took to make our collage:
1: Looked at magazines to see what pictures to use and cut them out.
2: Taped the images down to see where we wanted them
3: Took the tape off and glued the pictures down
4: Added a top coat and a boarder
Before we did our big collage, we practiced collage on these smaller pieces of cardboard. I realized that there were a lot of food words in the magazine I was searching through, so I made a food collage (surprise, surprise).
for my self-dig collage, we had to find images that represented us in some way. I love being in nature, so I included a lot of pictures that had depicted nature. I love to read, and I used to play the violin, so I outlined magazine pages and music sheets. I also love to play chess (even though I am not very good at it).
for our very first drawing project, we needed to learn the seven elements of art,
line
shape
value
texture
space
form
color
and it was really fun, even if it was practice.
In art, for one of our first projects, we had to show what we knew about value and shading, so we practiced turning circles into "spheres" - they're an illusion, not an actual 3D object-and creating a value scale, which is a strip that shows a range of shades - lightest to darkest.
I was ready to jump straight into our final drawing project, but first we needed to practice a few things like drawing what we see, proportion, and shading. It was really fun, because I had never done something like it and It was interesting to try to humanize one of them.
For our final visual arts drawing project, I drew a hand, which is one of the things that I have trouble drawing, and made it hold a cityscape (Seattle, where I used to live.) In my opinion, this is one of the hardest but most satisfactory art peices I have done this year
As it turns out, There is a LOT more to drawing than I first thought.
Our last art project was to make something out of clay. I wanted to make a giant bowl as a center piece for my table, but I ran out of time so it is going to be mine now.We rolled out coils that were about the same size and then we scored, slipped, and sticked our coils together (score, slip, stick is how you make sure the coils hold) then, we smoothed our piece. For the glaze colors, I really wanted blue and green (because those are my favorite colors) and I painted the green over the blue so that it dripped down. It didn't turn out exactly as I wanted it to, but it still made me happy. I realized very, very quickly that glazing is hard to get how you want it.
all of AMS that was in art brought their parents and to the Commons and showed their art.
