Meet the Teachers

Although your student is assigned to a specific homeroom, we believe in a team approach to taking care of our third graders! Your student will have several opportunities throughout the year to interact with the entire third grade staff, particularly as it applies to the daily enrichment block.

This will be my 17th year teaching, and my 8th year teaching 3rd grade at Mount Lebanon.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Education from Fairmont State University in Fairmont, West Virginia.  In addition, I  have  earned a GT endorsement through Converse College.   When I am not working on school stuff, I love hiking, running, cooking, reading, and spending time with my husband, Scott, our two girls--Hailey and Maggie, and our quarantine pup, Quinn.

To say that 'I Love what I do!' would be an understatement.  Teaching is not just a job to me! I thoroughly enjoy what I do as I get to shape the minds of America's future. Watching how each child grows and overcomes challenges throughout the year is part of what I love!  This year poses many new challenges for us all, but I know that we will get through it together!    Part of what makes teaching so great is that it is my family away from home.  They truly become my family, and  as a family, we are there for each other.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you begin this new journey "upstairs" at MLES.  3rd grade is a big year full of growth and learning.  I can't wait to see what this school year holds and the goals that we will all  set and achieve! It may be difficult at times, but we can achieve it together!  I look forward to working with you and your child this year and know that it will be a successful year!

Welcome to third grade!  I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and I  received my master's degree through Southern Wesleyan University. My certification is in Elementary Education with an add-on in Gifted and Talented and a Teacher Leader  Endorsement.  This will be my 20th year of teaching.  I have spent sixteen years in third grade; this is my tenth year at Mount Lebanon Elementary School. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my boys, our Labrador and our rescue sweetheart, chickens, and thousands of honeybees.

I cannot wait to meet you and start our year together. You will learn many exciting things this year. By the end of third grade, you will be a multiplication master and a South Carolina historian! One of my passions is teaching students how to be good stewards of the earth. Getting my hands in rich loamy soil with students is a real treat! Our classroom has a great view of our garden. My classroom is a caring, exciting, and engaging place to be.

Welcome to 3rd Grade at Mount Lebanon Elementary! This year will be full of new and exciting adventures for us all. My goal is to create a classroom environment that encourages students to give their best, to be willing to take risks, and to love learning as much as I do.

The 2023-24 school year will be my eighth year at Mount Lebanon, and my 13th year as a certified teacher. I taught second grade for three years before moving to 3rd grade. This will be my tenth year teaching 3rd grade, and I'm so happy to be here. I love the students at this age, and the curriculum is fantastic! In addition to this, I have about 6 years of experience as a private preschool teacher and as a kindergarten assistant. I love what I do!

I earned my bachelor's degree in Language and International Trade at Clemson University (Go Tigers!) and completed my educator certification through Anderson University's ACCEL program in 2010. My certification is in Elementary Education with add-ons in Early Childhood and Gifted/Talented instruction.

My husband Mike and I have been married for 32 years and have two children. Caroline, 26, teaches history at Seneca High School. Our 22-year-old, Andrew, earned his degree in mechatronics from TCTC and lives in Charlotte. Mr. Dunn and I share our home with Daphne, our very spoiled pitbull/lab mix. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time at the lake with our family and friends, and going to concerts.

My door is always open for your questions or concerns. I look forward to making this school year one of great growth and accomplishment!
