Seniors and families, need help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?
AHS will host an ICAN FAFSA Workshop during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Monday, October 26, from 5:00–7:00 PM in the Media Center.
Representatives from ICAN (Iowa College Access Network) will be available to help seniors and families work through the FAFSA process and answer questions about completing the application.
Before the workshop:
Students and parents/contributors are encouraged to create their StudentAid.gov accounts in advance. Creating these accounts ahead of time will make it easier to begin or complete the FAFSA during the workshop.
Families should also review the FAFSA Event Checklist before attending so they know what information and documents to have available.
Both the student and parent/contributor do not necessarily need to attend the workshop in person. However, anyone whose information is needed for the FAFSA should be available by phone in case they are needed to complete the two-step authentication/sign-in process.

OCTOBER 1 is always the first day the FAFSA application becomes available.
Here's what you need to know:
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)- This application can be filled out anytime after OCT 1 of a college-bound senior’s year and will be completed each year of the student's college years by both student and parent/guardian.

*Even if you are certain your family will not qualify for federal financial aid because of your family’s income bracket, many colleges require a FAFSA to be on file in order to be considered for merit-based scholarships as well as need-based scholarships. This application is completed each year your student is in college.
