Indication:

Acute shortness of breath, labored respirations, wheezing, and suspected anaphylaxis following shellfish ingestion.

Technique:

Portable AP chest radiograph

Findings:

• Lungs: Clear lung fields with no focal consolidation, effusion, or pneumothorax. No evidence of pulmonary edema.

• Airways: Trachea is midline.

• Heart and Mediastinum: Normal size and contour. No widening of mediastinum.

• Bony Structures: No rib fractures or acute bony abnormalities noted.

• Soft Tissues: Mild soft tissue swelling noted in the upper airway region.
  
  

Impression:

• No acute cardiopulmonary process identified.

• Findings are consistent with airway edema without evidence of aspiration or pneumonia.

• Clinical correlation recommended for diagnosis of anaphylaxis.
