Patient: Mr. Charlie Breather
Ordering Physician: Dr. Al Veolar
Facility: Panhandle Regional Medical Center
Indication:
Evaluation of chest X-ray in a patient with COPD and suspected pneumonia, presenting with shortness of breath, productive cough, and decreased oxygen saturation with activity.
Technique:
Standard Posterior-Anterior (PA) and Lateral views of the chest.
Findings:
Lung Fields:
Hyperinflation of the lungs with increased lung volumes and flattened diaphragms, consistent with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
Evidence of increased lung markings and interstitial changes bilaterally, suggestive of chronic bronchial changes.
Patchy areas of consolidation observed predominantly in the right lower lobe, suggestive of pneumonia.
No pleural effusion is identified.
Mediastinum and Heart:
Cardiomegaly not evident.
Mediastinal structures are within normal limits.
Bones and Soft Tissues:
No evidence of rib fractures or other osseous abnormalities.
Soft tissues appear unremarkable.
Impression:
Findings are consistent with COPD with hyperinflation and pneumonia, likely involving the right lower lobe.
Recommend continued monitoring of respiratory status and correlation with clinical findings.
Suggest follow-up imaging if symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
