Composition: Chairman and members as needed.
Encourage members to recognize educational excellence at the chapter level.
Promote the International Excellence Education Award program by encouraging each chapter to provide information to all members concerning applicant qualifications and the criteria used in evaluating applications for the International recognition.
Publicize deadlines to assure that completed nominations forms are sent to International Headquarters postmarked by December 15 in the odd-numbered years and that completed nomination packets are received by the Tennessee Excellence in Education Chairman no later than February 1 of the even-number years.
The Excellence in Education Chairman shall:
Acknowledge the receipt of all nomination packets.
Convene the Tennessee Excellence in Education Committee panel of judges between February 5 and March 1 of the even-numbered years. The committee, acting as panel of judges, shall review and evaluate all nomination packets and select one recipient. The chairman shall retain all nomination packets except the state recipient's packet.
Mail the state recipient's packet and all adjudication forms to Headquarters via "Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation" by March 15 of even-numbered years. All other nomination packets will be retained by the chairman and then destroyed following the International Convention of the following odd-numbered year.
Notify the State President of the sister selected to received the Excellence in Education Award and request President to requisition grant money from the Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation for recipient of Tennessee Excellence in Education grant.
Consult with the State President about recognition/grant to be presented by the State President or her designee to Tennessee Excellence in Education recipient at the State Convention.
Announce the Tennessee recipient of the Excellence in Education Award at the State Convention held in each even-numbered year.
If the Tennessee recipient of the Excellence in Education Award is not attending the state convention, she should be invited to the luncheon at which she is recognized as the EIE recipient for Tennessee. The cost of her luncheon would be paid from contingency funds.
