SHARE the joy of our organization by enriching others in our communities and the world.
Greetings Everyone!
I would like to introduce myself to you. I am your newly elected TN ADK President, Janice Oliver. I am a member of Alpha Kappa in West Tennessee, and I live in Memphis.
My theme is Plant – Care – Share.
The logo shows the words of the theme encircling a vase holding three irises and seven daffodils. The symbol of our organization is printed on the vase.
The iris is the state flower of Tennessee. The three irises depict the three districts in Tennessee and represent three areas of our mission: Educational Excellence, Altruism and World Understanding. Since daffodils are my favorite flower, I had to include them. The seven daffodils stand for the seven states in the Southeast Region. The vase is our organization holding all of us together.
In the language of flowers, the iris represents faith and hope, wisdom and truth, and positive change. The daffodil represents renewal, vitality, awareness and inner reflection. As I contemplated these words, I thought about how they can guide us as we plan our chapter and state goals for this biennium. Coordinating my theme with the goals I would like us to focus on, I came up with three sentences that are easy to remember.
Let’s Plant our garden so we can grow in leadership and membership.
