THE WORKSITE

WORK ACTIVITIES

Our work is mostly with other NGOs in the area and thus remains very dynamic as we are constantly looking to meet the needs of the community and continue to build relationships with our partners.

At the moment, our work includes the following activities:

As well, our volunteers participate in camp engagement initiatives, Currently involve planning and delivering activities and skills based sessions to children and women in unofficial camps (i.e. games, sewing workshops, origami and embroidery), as a means to provide indirect psychosocial support and a space to relax following the traumatic event.

TYPICAL WORKDAY

Each day depends on the scope of work the community you are working in requires. Don’t worry if you have never done this before—we will teach you everything you need to know when you get here.

Normal All Hands programs follow a 6-day on - 1-day off schedule, in our Turkiye Program, we alternate 6-day and 5-day working weeks, meaning every other week we will have 2 days off.

The work day is from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM. However, these hours change depending on the needs of the program. There may also be occasional needs from partner NGOs and camps for volunteer teams to operate outside of normal work hours to meet an urgent need in the community. We will discuss these occasions with all volunteers in advance and try to take people's interest and preferences into account as much as possible when planning the work teams. This may not always be possible. If you are scheduled to work late we will try to schedule a late morning start for you the following day. Thank you for your understanding of this system - Our aim as always is to meet the need where we find it! After you return home from the work site, you will have a chance to unwind, relax and reflect on your day as a part of our nightly team meetings. Read more about the daily schedule here.

Please keep in mind that you are entering a recent disaster zone. Situations on the ground will quickly evolve, and we will do our best to communicate those changes as soon as possible. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding that the environment is unpredictable and new developments may affect our scope of work, the pace of work, schedule, and logistics.
