Photos & Release

Model Release Form

Before using any photos, videos or audio of people we need a media release. Please do not create your own media release.

Photos in UAF presentations, publications, signage and advertising in print and/or online must have the consent of identifiable individuals on a signed model release. Permission of persons obviously posing for a photo is implied, so no release is needed in such instances. Other exceptions include photos of individuals participating in a public performance (theater, athletics, dance, etc.) or public crowd shots in which no individual is singled out.

PhotoShelter

University Relations has begun using a hub, called PhotoShelter, for photos that unit PIOs and UR photographers have taken. Anyone with a UAF login can access this platform and download images to use for University related purposes.

Please contact the CIS Marketing & Communications Manager to upload your photos to this database.  All photos added must have a model release form completed for anyone captured in the images.

Whenever possible, professional photography should be used.

Photos contributed by staff members and occasional stock images may be used but should follow the same guidelines outlined above.

Photo credits should be included wherever possible. For official university photography, the credit should be worded as “UAF photo by [name of photographer].” If the photographer isn’t known or photos are provided by the subject of a story, use “Photos courtesy of [name, department or organization].”

Photo Coverage Request

I want to capture as much as I can of CIS. With that said, we have so much going on and I want to make sure your events are on my calendar! If you wouldn't mind filling out this form when you want an event photographed, I can ensure to be there. If I cannot be there, or dual coverage is best - I will request a UAF photographer to attend as well.

Please make sure to request photo coverage at least 7 days in advance of your event.

My photo turn around is average 3 business days, but this is ever changing and dependent on demand. I will connect you after an event to confirm my turn-around time so you know when to expect the photos.
