Climate Change

by Gracyn

Climate change is something that won’t go away unless we do something about it. It is not too late just yet, but scientists have stated that we only have until 2030 to do something about it.

We have already seen many forms of climate change: rising sea levels, icebergs melting, animals going extinct, fires, pollution, tsunamis, storms, rain, drought, and food shortages. If you love animals, you should know that these animals may go extinct: polar bears, ringed seals, monarch butterflies, atlantic cods, koalas, leatherback sea turtles, adeline penguins, tigers, and many more.

I talked to seventh grader Christen T. “I don’t think that Trump will do anything because he hasn’t done anything that would help with climate change because in his four years he’s been president he hasn’t done anything about it.” She added, “Since we have had some wildfires, maybe it has something to do with climate change.”

What you can do to help with climate change? Stop shopping online, plant trees, speak up, power your house with renewable energy, reduce water waste, buy food you’ll eat and not waste, eat less meat, buy better light bulbs, pull out plugs, etc.

Some people in the United States suggest having a safety net, which means for one side of the world to be for humans and the other side for animals and people who lost their homes. Another plan is to only buy electric cars by 2030. Climate change is a real thing. Remember, you can make a difference, it’s not too late.
