Year 7 and 8 Food Technology takes the students on a journey through every aspect of making a pizza. Students learn everything from nutrition, flavour combinations and food hygiene through to how yeast yeast works and using it to make pizza dough. The focus of the unit is how to make a unique pizza by exploring different ingredients and their functional properties.
As well as having to make a unique pizza in a 75 minute lesson, students also have a chance to create their own pizza box which is unique to the theme of their pizza.
Students focus on the product development strand of the Technology curriculum and also develop their confidence in the kitchen. Each student creates their own pizza allowing students to take ownership of their pizza and test any unique ideas they may have.
Food Technology is a great chance for students to go through the process of developing their own product and links to the Year 9 and 10 Food Technology Option.
