Design and Visual Communication

In Year 7 & 8 DVC is an introductory course to 3D sketching methods and model making.

Students will gain a basic understanding of the different drawing methods and use freehand sketching to apply these to their own basic designs.

Methods covered include:

• Oblique Projection
• Isometric Projection
• Perspective drawing (both 1 point and 2 point)
• Orthographic Projection

Students will develop their fine motor skills and techniques to refine linework and incorporate a range of media to help communicate their design ideas more effectively.

Students will then undertake a design and modelling project to take a 2D paper sketch and bring it into the 3D world.
