International Peace Day

AIS Egypt celebrated today International Peace Day. Students participated in a global "Peace Wave" by observing a moment of silence. This minute gave everyone a quiet moment to reflect on their place in the world and how they may be able to contribute on a personal level to making the world a better, more peaceful place each and every day.

Founded by the United Nations in 1981, the day is devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace and observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. The aim of such a day is to reduce violence and reflect on what peace actually means.

Grade 6 students contributed to International Peace Day by forming a human peace sign in the school’s courtyard. They did it peacefully despite the hot weather.

AIS students have been reading books related to peace and peacemakers, reflecting on it through multiple discussions, visualizing the concept, and writing poems about peace. Poems about peace were recited by our marvelous students: Laila (Grade 3), Tara (Grade 5), Tia (Grade 5), Talia (Grade 5), and Reem (Grade 6).

Today's celebration, in which all AIS Egypt was wearing a white article, brought the entire community together by celebrating its unity and efforts towards more peace. AIS students make the world a better place!
