Galileu Galilei nasceu em Pisa, Itália, em 15 de fevereiro de 1564 e foi um importante cientista, físico, matemático, astrónomo e filósofo italiano.
Galileu demonstrou apreço pela Matemática enquanto estudava Medicina, pela influência do seu pai, pela Universidade de Pisa e acabou por tornar-se uma importante referência nas áreas da Física e da Astronomia.
Ele estudou o movimento da queda dos corpos, descobriu as crateras e montanhas na Lua, os satélites que orbitavam Júpiter e concluiu, por meio da observação astronómica, que o modelo de Copérnico, que defendia que a Terra orbitava o Sol, estava correto. Foi perseguido pela Santa Inquisição pelas suas posições como cientista e forçado a passar os últimos anos da sua vida em prisão domiciliária.
Curiosidades: Galileu era considerado por muitos historiadores como o "pai da Ciência Moderna" pelas suas várias atividades de destaque.

Galileu showed an inclination towards Mathematics while studying Medicine, influenced by his father, at the University of Pisa, eventually becoming a significant figure in the fields of Physics and Astronomy.
He studied the motion of falling bodies, discovered craters and mountains on the Moon, the satellites orbiting Jupiter, and concluded, through astronomical observation, that Copernicus' model, which advocated for the Earth orbiting the Sun, was correct. He was persecuted by the Holy Inquisition for his scientific positions and forced to spend the last years of his life under house arrest.
Fun fact: Galileu was considered by many historians as the "father of Modern Science" due to his various prominent activities.
