Audrain County Shelter Resource Coalition (ACSRC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit with the mission of “Caring For Those In Need Of Shelter.” ACSRC continues to grow and expand services using our three-pronged approach to focus on progress, prevention, and protection among people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in Audrain County, Missouri. Our vision is to ensure appropriate resources are available to prevent and reduce homelessness, making Audrain County an even better community to live in.
Our Three-Pronged Approach
Combating homelessness in Audrain County is ACSRC’s goal, and these three distinctive programs give our participants a much-needed hand-up!
Progress: The Summit Transitional Housing Program
The Summit Transitional Housing Program is a residential program that provides dormitory-style living within a supported environment for individuals who have income and a desire for permanent housing. To help our program participants get into stable housing, The Summit allows them to establish a payment history and skills to make their dreams a reality. Each participant participates in case management, where our experienced staff can help them find employment, get proper ID verification, navigate available resources, and establish SMART goals. Then, we offer our program participants encouragement and empowerment to achieve their goals.
Prevention: The Laura Mae Miller George Community Resource Center
The Laura Mae Miller George Community Resource Center is a resource center for individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability. It doesn't duplicate services. Instead, it is staffed by caseworkers with intimate knowledge about resources currently available within Audrain County. ACSRC understands that connecting to relevant resources helps to keep people in their homes. The Audrain County Shelter Resource Coalition can be utilized by anyone in Audrain County who is at risk of becoming homeless or who is already experiencing homelessness.
Protection: Room at the Inn
For the first 10 years, a dedicated group of volunteers operated the Room at the Inn Shelter, but it now has staff to manage the day-to-day operations. Our emergency warming shelter is open from December 1 to the end of February. Room at the Inn's goal is to provide emergency shelter assistance during the cold winter months to keep people safe. When temperatures dip dangerously low during the winter, ACSRC is right there to keep people safe and warm. Room at the Inn also serves as a soup kitchen providing meals to hungry residents.
