Hello Claxton Family,
My name is Dominick LaPorte. I am from Massachusetts (go Sox, Pats, Celtics, Revs, and Bruins). I attended Bridgewater State University, graduating with a B.S. in Physical and Health Education and a minor in Public Health and Coaching.
Prior coming to Asheville in 2018, my wife and I were in Knoxville, Tennessee for one year. Here, I taught Physical and Health Education to 6th-8th students. Before making the big move to TN I also taught one year at Parmenter Elementary School in Franklin, Massachusetts. Having the ability to teach in three different states has helped me bring ideas from each and help me implement rigorous and fun lessons for our amazing students at Claxton Elementary School. My goal each and every day is to leave young students motivated to live a healthy and active lifestyle. After all, your health is your wealth.
In my free time I love landscaping with my Japanese maple tree collection. I love all sports, but soccer is one of my favorites to play. I also enjoy running anywhere from one mile races to 24hr races and winning a few when competing. When I’m not running I enjoy going on long hikes, cooking healthy meals, and playing with my two bengal cats, Annabelle and Smokey. Living a "zero waste lifestyle" is something I have been passionate about and making an effort towards the past few years. I'm look forward to impacting young minds in Health and Physical Education at Claxton Elementary School.
I look forward to teaching the next generation here at Claxton Elementary, and I am very excited for this opportunity. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if you would like to simply say hello.

Summer was a great time for seeing some new and old places. We went to Charleston, Boston, New Hampshire, ran some races, along with some cat naps.
During the first quarter we had a blast working on handball lessons, team building activities, and our "driver licenses" for kindergarten.
For our second quarter we got our hearts pumping in different ways like parachute and jump rope.
For the final end of the year we rounded out the year with volleyball, baseball, growth and development, and field day. Mr. LaPorte had some great local race results with a couple overall wins. It was great to see Claxton students and parents partaking in these race events. This year flew by and looking forward to next year! Have a fun and safe summer and see you all for the 2025-2026 school year!
