Whether you are in the mood to write, perform, design, dance, or make- this board has it all! Click the link to be taken to the clickable slide. Don't forget to share pictures & videos on Seesaw of your completed projects!

Week of April 20th- K-2nd Students

Seesaw Activity: Create a Family Dance= We all love to dance... right?! Let's get moving!!

1. 🤔 Each family member must decide on one dance move they want to add to the family dance.

2. Stand in a circle and have a DJ (whoever listens to the best music) choose a song.

3. 💃🏽🕺🏽Each family member takes a turn showing their dance move and the rest of the family must repeat it.

4. Decide as a family on the sequence of dance moves, putting all the dance moves together to create your Family Dance!

Family Why: This activity builds focus and memory muscle. Children have to focus on learning a new move and remembering the pattern of the family dance. Movement is important for brain development and everyone needs time to relax and destress as well! Add your family dance throughout your week or have a special song you can use as a signal to have everyone spontaneously break out into the dance again!

Week of April 20th- 3rd-5th Students

I'm in the mood for a LIPSYNC Battle!

1. CHOOSE A SONG! Click the link in the picture and choose a KidzBop song.

2. PRACTICE. Make sure you've heard the song a few times & know the lyrics. KidzBop has songs with the lyrics in them too! (My favorite is "Truth Hurts (Lyric Video)") Focus on your facial expressions and really expressing the meaning of the lyrics. If you choose to dance- make sure it's appropriate- and the same dance moves you would rock at a school dance in front of Ms. Nichols!

3. RECORD. Open your song on your Chromebook, and seesaw in another tab. Hit record on seesaw & play on your song- and you are ready to GO~ You can also have family members film you and upload the video to seesaw from their phone/ send the video to your drive and upload onto seesaw (email me if you need need help!)

Want an extra challenge? - Film outside! - Use family members in your video! - Add costumes! - Video Chat with a friend and film the video together! - Make props for the video! - Involve your pets!

Week of April 13th- K-2nd Students

On the CLX Specialist Seesaw- you'll see your first optional project ready for you! Follow along in my (first ever, and very talkative) instructional video- to make a Sock or a Peeper Puppet from materials you might have around your house. Don't forget to share pictures & videos on Seesaw of your completed projects.

Week of April 13th- 3rd-5th Students

On the CLX Specialist Seesaw- you will find an instructional video (sorry it's not me this week!) on how to turn toilet paper rolls into marionette puppets! I specifically love this Cheshire Cat! What other animals could you make? An egg carton cut up could make a fantastic snake. Get creative with supplies around your house & improvise (get it) to get your puppet swinging! Please share pictures & videos on Seesaw with me.

Drama Choice Board

Meet Mrs. Rigsby

Hello Hello! I started teaching at Claxton Elementary in 2009, and am lucky to have spent all 11 years of my career here. I'm dual-licensed in K-12 Theatre & K-6 Elementary education and really enjoyed being a 4th grade teacher for a few years!

I am from Raleigh NC, and have always known I was meant to be a teacher but didn't know where I would fit in. I tried on a lot of different subjects before finding Drama. In Drama Class, I felt like my silly and often "too big" personality was celebrated and not just tolerated. I loved that our classes were a mix of every social group- and we came together and worked like a strange little family. I left for college at UNC-Asheville, and graduated with a degree in Theatre with a K-12 Teaching Licenese. I was lucky enough to begin teaching part-time at Claxton that following August.

My husband, Josh, and I love everything about living in Asheville (except the traffic on I26). You may have heard stories about our spunky daughter- "Maeve the Brave". Maeve is 3 years old and wants to be the mascot of Claxton.
