RLP Electronic Music Students will be primarily using SoundTrap but feel free to check out these other possible online DAWs you could use to supplement your work.
SOUNDTRAP is a DAW that may accessed in any web browser or through a mobile app (Chrome, iOS, & Android). Similar to other digital recording options, it includes prerecorded loops, multitrack recording, software instruments, voice recording, and the ability to connect MIDI devices. Sound trap is currently offering 1-month FREE Trial that you can experiment with, but we will be purchasing a year-long subscription for you.
FL STUDIO is a DAW that a few of you use at home already. It does all the same things as Logic just with a different layout. There is a preliminary Trial Version you can download, with tiered purchase options depending on your interest-level/if you would like to pursue that (NOT required for this class).
BANDLAB is a free, collaborative DAW (digital audio workstation). Anyone with access to a microphone at home can record vocals, instruments, etc. directly into your project, but all sounds can also be created with MIDI via a QWERTY keyboard.
REAPER is another online DAW that is offering a FREE license right now while schools are social distancing. REAPER is an acronym for Rapid Environment for Audio Production, Engineering, and Recording), and it includes plug-ins that are available in 32-bit & 64-bit format.
ABLETON Ableton Live is a DAW that is accessed for both macOS and Windows. Ableton Live is designed to be an instrument for live performances as well as a tool for composing, recording, arranging, mixing, and mastering.
