On Thursday morning

We were so lucky this week to have Miss Palmer the loose parts expert come to P2/3 and teach us how to use them!

World of Work 

We are having a great time working with P3 and creating our own businesses learning all about the world of work!

Learn It's - We are learning about doubles. 8+8=16

It's nothing new -(P2) - I can double 1d numbers.

Double 5 is 10, double 6 is 12.

(P3) - I can double 2d numbers

P2 - I can add 1 to a number up to 20 

P3 - I can solve any 2d + 1d

We loved being on the stage! We had to practice using our big, loud voices so EVERYONE could hear us!

We are focusing on key reading strategies this term, which will support us with our writing. Focusing on Reflective Reading questions about our book 2 times a week. 


Spelling-  

We will be continuing to focus on one phoneme or digraph over th week


Writing

We will focus on Narratives , Poetry and Informational Writing. We will be focusing specifically on  using connectives and description within our writing.

Numeracy

We will focus on revision of time and shape.

We are also recapping our number bonds and our fact families. Including addition, subtraction and multiplying of numbers.

This term we will be focusing on Relationships/Social Wellbeing. We will be using the resource rshp.scot/

On Google Classroom you will find a powerpoint that explains the first 4 lessons we will teach the children during the Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood.  


Christmas Show

We will focus on Personal Correspondence, Interviews, Surrveys, Narratives  and of course some Christmas themed writing. We will be focusing specifically on  using connectives within our writing.!

Cross Curricular

This term it is the  Showtime  topic! We will be experiencing energy and excitement for presenting/performing for audiences and learning how to be a good audience. 

We will learn through drama, dance, music and art. 

We will continue to show our friends support by being encouraging and showing our feelings while giving constructive comments about our own work and others.

Numeracy

We will be learning to recognise, use and correctly form numbers within 100/1000. We will also practice counting and using larger numbers.

Our maths topics are Estimation and rounding and Time.  

HWB

We will focus on  Relationships/Social Wellbeing.

We had a lovely afternoon learning about the Thai New Year festival: Songkran!


We were so lucky to have Miss Duguid and P5/6 who are our buddies this year to come and help us.

It is also known as the water festival. We made pictures from water guns, built Temples from sand or building blocks.

We had so much fun.

Our first topic this term is Caring Citizens which gives us an opportunity to get to know each other, our learning styles, needs, abilities, work on friendship making and building and creating structures, routines and our UNCRC Class Charters. 

We will then move onto  Around the World where our focus is Thailand!

Numeracy

We will be learning to recognise, use and correctly form numbers within 10. We will also practice counting and using larger numbers.

Our maths topics are 2D and 3D shapepatterns and relationships and Maths Week Scotland will be from 25.09.23-01.10.23 where we will work on the themes of 'Maths in our Everyday Lives'!

We will focus on Planet Earth; Processes of the Planet and Space.
