2024 was another year of unprecedented growth in the fire department. We saw staffing enhancements at three of our stations, Station 7, Station 12, and Station 28. We also continued adding new personnel to our ranks, keeping us busy all year. Training these probationers is never-ending, and all our personnel pitch in to assist with bringing them up to speed.
As for training, we are continually improving our skills. Core competencies were trained throughout the summer, and testing began in the fall. This ongoing process will drive our members to become more efficient and effective at their jobs. In addition, we utilized acquired structures for training on the FAST boards, hose stretches, and searches.
Lastly, we said goodbye to Battalion Chief Chris Schaetzly as he departed for his well-earned and much-deserved retirement. Chris leaves Battalion 4 D-Shift with a legacy for all those who follow in his footsteps. With his departure, we welcomed newly promoted Battalion Chief Scott Robertson to the shift.
