Greg Novak
Deputy Chief - Logistics
It is my privilege to present the 2024 annual report Logistics section. This section provides an overview of the activities, accomplishments, and financial performance over the past year in each area that resides under Logistics for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, including the Office of the Fire Marshal, our Operations Support Division, Information Management Division, and our Administrative Support Division.
Our Fire Marshal’s Office is divided into two units: our Code Enforcement Unit provides fire prevention, safety, and inspections, and the Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit. Click on each unit to learn more about the value they provide here in the county.
Operations Support is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of all department apparatus, including outfitting, testing, and maintenance of our fleet. They are also responsible for purchasing and inventory management for the department, procuring, storing, and distributing firefighting equipment and supplies for over 1,000 career personnel and over 400 operational volunteer members. Additionally, they ensure the operational readiness of our breathing apparatus and specialized tools and equipment.
Our Information Management Division provides coordination and support for the department's technology needs, including desktop and notebook computers as well as mobile devices such as radios, cell phones, and tablets. They maintain our departmental databases and provide data and statistics used to make decisions about the deployment of our resources. The 911 center answers all Fire & EMS related calls for service, dispatching the appropriate resources to each incident. Our GIS section maintains the mapping data used by our various systems, such as our dispatch computers, to ensure our personnel have the most current information when responding to an emergency.
Our Administrative Support Division is comprised of our Human Resources and Payroll Sections, as well as our Office of Professional Standards. In addition, they oversee our Volunteer Services Section and coordinate light-duty personnel.
