Glenn James II
Division Chief - Administrative Support
In 2024, the Professional Standards Office continued its work to ensure that the members of the AACoFD were provided a safe, professional workplace where they could focus on delivering the residents of Anne Arundel County with the first-class service they deserve. This past year, we saw an advancement with the establishment of Blue Teams, an information management system that has streamlined administrative processes.
This past year, the Blue Teams software procured in 2023 went live within the department. Blue Teams is software that communicates and tracks many daily fire department functions. These will include special reports, requests, various inquiries, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and citizen complaints, commendations, and more to track communications better and provide statistical data to help the department better steward our resources. In 2024, the Professional Standards Office logged nearly 200 cases, including discipline, EEO, and stakeholder inquiries.
The Professional Standards Team grew in 2024 as we hired more support staff in Fire Department Personnel to assist with the growing needs of a nearly 1,000-person fire department.
The updating of departmental policy and procedures continued in 2024. This has become, and will remain, a foundational workload for the Professional Standards Office.
