When leaving York, you need to give some thought to the files you've created in Google docs. You can transfer ownership of shared documents to one of your colleagues, or if appropriate, you can transfer it to your personal Google account by inviting your personal account to be an editor and then making it an owner (see below).
Also Google Takeout gives the data from various services in a format that can be then re-imported into other tools.
If you are the 'owner' of a significant number of important departmental documents and are about to leave, you need to make sure you transfer ownership to a suitable person. Although you could do this yourself one document at a time, the facility exists for a 'Google Power Administrator' to transfer ownership to someone else in one simple step.
