Hello parents,
We've had a wonderful start to the season! Everyone seems to be settling into the practice routine and as we go on, we cannot wait to see the improvement in all of our runners.
I wanted to contact you with some information concerning the next few days. Normally, I would encourage everyone to check the website for updates, but with so many new members on the team, I wanted to contact you all directly to point you in the best direction for information about our team.
1.) The rosters have now been finalized. You can click on the Rosters section of the website to view them including the tabs listing the "Green" and "White" Teams. These are travel rosters for the away meets. The plan is to take the Green Team to 2 meets, the White Team to 2 meets and everyone to the final away meet. If you are not on an away roster and you still want to attend a meet, you can as long as transportation is provided by parents.
2.) We are once again doing our apparel through the Thurston PTO. There are 2 items both very reasonably priced that the kids should have brought home to you today from practice. Note: These are optional costs, not required. Additional forms can be found on our website in the Important Documents and Links section of the website. I've also attached the form to this e-mail. We have been asked to have all apparel order forms in by Thursday at the latest. We know this is a quick turnaround, but we are doing this to accommodate the request we get to have the orders in by the end of the season.
3.) Please note the changes in our meet schedules. We often have changes during the year because of field availabilities and teams wanting to race with us. You can find all of these changes in the Events Calendar section of the website.
4.) Tomorrow is a big day for us at practice. We will be handing out jerseys, so please make every effort to have your child attend practice, even if for only 10-15 minutes to get a jersey. If they cannot make it, we will be sure to get them a jersey in time for the upcoming race. We also offer shorts as well. If your child wants to run in their own shorts, they must be green or black.
5.) I want to remind everyone that if your child is either walking home or leaving practice with another parent, we must have written permission from you to allow this. We want to ensure the safety of all of our runners and this allows us to track everyone at practice and at meets.
6.) From this point on we will be doing the majority of our communication through the team website and by text/e-mail alerts. To sign up for these alerts, please see the information located at the bottom of our home page.
Finally, I want to thank you for your continued support of our program. It makes us so proud to have the largest club/team in all of Thurston Middle School at over 102 members! We cannot wait to see what this season has in store for all of your children. They have done a remarkable job in our first 3 days and we hope to keep things moving in the right direction.
