Sally Mae "No Essay" Scholarship
Deadline: 30th of August-December 2025
Award: $2,000
The $2,000 Sallie Mae Scholarship is only open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and any US Territory age 16 or older at the time of entry, and who meet one (1) of the four (4) following eligibility requirements at the time of entry:
A parent who currently has a child enrolled in an accredited college or university located within the United States;
A student who is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university located within the United States;
A parent who currently has a child enrolled as a high school senior located within the United States;
A student who is currently enrolled as a high school junior or senior who intends to enroll in an accredited college or university located with the United States, within a year of graduating high school.

James Alan Cox Foundation for Students with Photojournalist Scholarship

Breckenridge Scholar Program

Each spring, Randolph County Republican Women promote the Breckenridge Scholar Program. It is open to high school junior and senior females who would like to learn more about state government. The winner will participate in a 1-day tour of the Jefferson City Capitol building in addition to other state government opportunities that day. Applications are due by mail or digitally no later than January 9, 2025. You can pick up a copy of the application in the counseling office or check your email.

Hands-On Shark and Ray Research Project in Clearwater, Florida
Summer Program: Professor led, hands-on, marine field research experience in Clearwater, Florida. All participants will be involved in all aspects of a local population study on sharks and rays. This includes setting and retrieving nets and longlines, handling and identifying captured animals, tagging and measuring all captured sharks and rays, collecting DNA, recording data, and releasing animals. Each day begins with a lecture on shark and ray identification, biology, physiology, and conservation as well as our local ecosystems, species, and other conservation topics. After the 1 - 2 hour lecture in the morning, the day continues with approx 6 hours of field research aboard our vessels. We are out on the boats Monday - Friday each week.
Who should attend: Anyone 18 years of age or older interested in pursuing a career in the natural sciences would greatly benefit from this hands-on opportunity. This includes incoming freshmen, currently enrolled students, and college graduates. This program provides invaluable research and animal handling experience. Such unique field training will make you a competitive candidate for future internships, graduate school, and jobs. There are no prerequisites and no previous experience is necessary.
Course credit: Most students receive credit for our program and should discuss receiving course credit for this program with their advisor. Whether or not you receive course credit, this field research experience will be a very beneficial addition to your résumé or CV. Credit is often listed as research experience, internship credits, independent study, capstone project, marine biology/science credit, and other related titles

Housing: Affordable and fully furnished housing is available to our summer program participants at a very affordable rate and includes Wi-Fi, a full kitchen, linens, and laundry facilities.
Transportation: After arriving in the Tampa/Clearwater, FL area, transportation is provided to/from: airport, bus station, our classrooms and boats, and the grocery store.
Participants who attend 4 or more weeks will also have the opportunity to be a team leader on the project and supervise new researchers.

The Missouri State University College of Education and Department of Mathematics are offering two fantastic summer programs for high school students interested in teaching:
Bears Teach: Open to all students in grades 9-11, this program provides an introduction to the exciting world of education.
Young Mathematics Teacher Academy: Designed for students with a strong passion for math, this program explores the rewarding career of teaching mathematics.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Student Alliance Program
Due Date: February 17, 2025
When: March 1st & March 8th 2025
Who: Juniors and Seniors of good character who might be interested in a career in law enforcement and attend schools located within the Troop B area
About: The selected students will participate in a variety of educational activities intended to familiarize them with the Highway Patrol operations and equipment. Participants will get to shoot in their indoor range and participate in mock traffic stops. The activities will take place at Troop B Headquarters in Macon, Mo. Participants must provide their own transportation and will be on their own for a lunch break each day.
