What is dual credit? Dual credit is when students can earn college credit while in the classroom in high school earning high school credit. This is for juniors and seniors with a 3.0 or above GPA. (Permission must be given by the school and parents for sophomores with a 3.0 GPA and above to take a class for dual credit and for juniors or seniors with a 2.5-2.9 GPA.)
2025-2026 Information: MACC's (Moberly Area Community College) dual credit rate is $81 / credit hour and CMU's (Central Methodist University) dual credit rate is $80/credit hour.
The ACCUPLACER can also be taken as a placement test. Contact Mrs. Kertz to schedule a time to take the test if needed. The cost for the entire test is $8.60 or $2.15 per section.
How do I sign up? First, you need to have requested that course. Contact Mrs. Kertz if you have a question about that. Dual credit packets will be passed out in dual credit classes each semester prior to the enrollment deadline.

We can offer online dual credit course that we don't have in- house for dual credit through both MACC and CMU (Note: Students taking these will be allowed an hour in their schedule to work on this, but they will not have an instructor trained in that area providing help in our building. There is an online instructor for online courses. Questions must be sent by the student to the online instructor. These courses are only recommended for self- motiviated students.) See Mrs. Kertz for an updated list of online course. Enrollment in these MUST be completed during fall registration in August BEFORE school starts.
The enrollment deadline for FALL classes with CMU is August 25 with a payment deadline of September 22, 2025. CMU is processing payments online only through the student's myCMU account they received after filling out a dual credit application for admission and I have sent in the names of students taking dual credit courses.
MACC will come to WHS to collect enrollments for FALL and YEARLONG classes on Monday, September 22 @ 9 a.m. Parents are not required to be there at that time, but they are welcome to come if they have any questions for the MACC representative about dual credit. MACC will also only be processing payments online through the students myMACC account that will be set up for them after enrollment forms are collected. At enrollment, they may ask to see a photo ID. The state dual credit scholarship requires the college to verify your citizenship.
Some classes, such as Composition I, also require a minimum GPA of 3.25 OR a minimun score of 18 on the Reading and English portions of the ACT or passing the Accuplacer (which can be taken in Mrs. Kertz's office prior to enrollment in classes for a fee to MACC of $2.15 per section). Also the prerequisite for the 3 credit hour College Algebra course is a 3.5 GPA AND a grade of B- or higher in Algebra II OR an ACT math subscore >= 22 (again the Accuplacer is an alternative test that can be taken to meet this requirement.)
This is an opportunity for your student to be able to take college classes while in high school and at a low price. We urge you to consider it. Central Methodist University and Moberly Area Community College encourage any prospective students to check with the college/ university that he/she may attend in the future to make sure the course(s) will transfer before enrolling in the course(s) for dual credit. Note: For further college credit, any of our graduating seniors are eligible to take a free course with MACC the summer after graduation.
