COURSE REGISTRATION HANDBOOK

The purpose of the WHS Student Class Registration Handbook is to acquaint parents and students with the educational opportunities available at the Washington High School. The handbook contains registration procedures, requirements for graduation, general information, courses offered, programming and course descriptions.

EVALUATION SHEETS (attached below)

The evaluation sheet is a way to track required graduation credits throughout the students' 4 years of high school.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Beginning in February, high school counselors will meet with current 8th-11th grade students to help prioritize their 10-12 elective class choices. High school counselors will register students for their CORE classes (English, science, social studies, and math.)

COLLEGE COURSES

If a student is interested in taking a college course, please complete a pre-registration form in the high school counselor's office. Hannah Pettersen, Kirkwood's Career Development Coordinator, can be reached at 653-4655 if you have questions.

All academy classes and companion courses are in the Washington County Regional Center's Program of Study which can be accessed online at: http://www.kirkwood.edu/washingtonacademies

Follow the directions below to see the course list at www.kirkwood.edu

1. Click EagleNet (Top right-hand corner)

2. Click EagleNet for Students (Top left-hand corner)

3. Click Search for Sections (under Registration on Left side)

4. Select a Term from the drop down menu (Fall 20—or Spring 20--)

5. Select Location (either Washington County for classes that are held at the Washington Center OR Online OR Iowa City OR Cedar Rapids)

6. Press Submit

A list of courses with dates and times are listed. Click on the course to see a description of the course. If a student would like to take a class, there is an application process that must be done with a high school counselor. Spring courses are published by October. Fall courses are published by March.
