FUNDAMENTALS OF SOIL SCIENCE, AGA-154-ATW31 (0242610) is a course equivalent to Agronomy 154 at Iowa State University, and it will transfer to most other universities as well. This is typically the first college soils course and covers both the physical and chemical nature of soil. There are no prerequisites for this course, but Intro to Tech Chemistry (or a similar chemistry course) will be a help in the soil chemistry section. Instructor Arden Shindoll, Professor Emeritus.
PRINCIPLES OF AGRONOMY, AGA-114-ATW31 (0242609) is equivalent to Agronomy 114 at Iowa State University. It presents instruction in crop plant classification, use and identification. Also covers cropping, tillage, planting, and harvest methods, and crop growth patterns. It is a balance of theoretical and practical crop science. Instructor Jim Hynek, Professor Emeritus.
These courses are usually available in both fall and spring semesters. Because they are entirely on the Internet, including the exams, this is an ideal way to take a college course while continuing a job or current classroom courses.
