Introduction
While you walk in the southern part of Africa you will see a Cheetah run right by you chasing its prey. Acinonyx jubatus is the scientific name for the cheetah.
Physical Characteristics
Welcome to the southern part of Africa where you will see and learn about cheetahs. There are a lot of fun facts about cheetahs. Acinonyx jubatus is the cheetahs scientific name for the cheetah.Let's start off with the weight. The cheetahs cub weighs about 150-300 grams. The adult cheetah weighs about 46-160 pounds. The cheetahs skin type is fur and there color is light tan with large black spots that look brown. Cheetahs use their tail to steer.They have a Swahili name and it is Dama.
Location Did you know that cheetahs can be tamed because I did not.Some cheetahs are in Africa's De Wildt-Shingwedzi Cheetah Ranch in south Africa or they can be running around in sub Saharan Africa, eastern Africa, and southern Africa.
What Do Their Young Look Like
There cubs look grayish tan with black spots. Their heads look orangish gray and their face look orangish yellow.
Habitat
Its habitat is the desert and grassy places that have some trees.They also live in open plains and savannas.
Predators or Prey
The predators are leopards, lions, and hyenas.The prey are antelopes, guinea fowl, gray duikers, and more. When the cheetahs are running after its prey they use their tail to steer.
