To create a new RFID batch click File > New in the toolbar. It is important to create a new batch after every print to ensure that the On-Demand software properly tracks your serial numbers. After you print a batch, the record will disable editing ensuring that you cannot change your batch settings once the serial numbers have been assigned.
There are really only four important parts to an RFID label. The Label Type (so that On-Demand knows what size labels you are using), CAGE code, Type (Case or Pallet), and the Quantity.
RFID is a way for the DoD to passively track shipments as they arrive at their distribution center. Each RFID tag has a unique 24-digit ID that is associated to the contents of its attached shipment in the Wide Area Workflow (WAWF). There is no identifying information on the RFID tag, other than the suppliers CAGE code and the Case or Pallet level of the container.
Label Type
The label type defines the RFID label stock you are printing on. On-Demand supports four different label types:
Classic 4"x2" RFID labels.
X-Traveler and Traveler labels are 4"x3" labels with a 4"x1" peel-off traveler at the top.
M-Travelers are a 4"x3" label with the 4"x1" peel-off traveler at the bottom of the label.
Container Type
The Container Type is labeled as Type on the RFID form. The container type defines the level of RFID tag you are using. There are three different types of container levels you can use, Pallet, Case or Unit. See our RFID FAQ for more information about Case and Pallet level tagging.
RFID Kits
When creating batches of RFID it is sometimes easier to manage batches of case and pallet labels combined into one roll of labels rather than using two separate rolls for case and pallet labels. On-Demand allows you to create kits, or batches of labels with one pallet and any number of case labels, each marked with a unique kit ID.
To create a kit, select the Kit type from the Type drop-down menu. This will enable the Kit form where you may enter the number of Cases/Cartons per Pallet, your Kit Quantity or total number of pallets, and your Starting Kit Number.
