Setting Up New Notifications
Notifications are used to send messages via email or text-message to alert users of events. These events can be assets
coming in or out of view, or system events such as readers going offline.
To create new Notifications, navigate to the Setup tab and click the add button in the Notifications section.
Each Notification requires an Item, Target, Agent, Zone, and Event Type. The Item property allows you to select the item
or device to send notification events about. The Item can be either a Zone or an Item. See the Zones section and the Items
section for information on creating new Zones or Items.
The Target is the recipient of the Notification. The Target can be an email address or phone number. The target will
receive a message when the event is triggered.
The Agent is the type of notification to be sent. The Agent can be either SMTP (for email notifications), or SMS (for text-
message notifications).
Select the Zone to send notification events about. To send alerts whenever an Item shows up at any Zone, select all.
Event Types allow you to select the action of the event. Event types can be Present, Absent, or Down. An Absent or
Present event will notify the Target as an asset comes into or out of view of the selected Zone.
A Down event is used when the Item is a Zone. Down events notify the user when a reader goes offline or becomes disconnected.
Editing and Disabling Notifications
Notifications may be modified by clicking the edit button next to the Notification you wish to edit in the Notifications
section of the Setup page. Once in the edit mode of a Notification you can disable that notification by deselecting the
Active field.
A Notification can be deleted by clicking the delete link in the Notifications list.
