We were at the Red Bridge Park along the Tulpehocken Creek from 8:00 - 12:00
1. Macroinvertebrate Survey : We did not have a large number of macros. most were small and imature: Stoneflies, Caddis fly larvae, clams, and small scuds were identified.
2. Fishing : Fishing was very slow. very few fish were observed.
3. Observations : a. The bats of the Red Bridge were not observed and are assumed to be in hibernation.
b. A bald Eagle was observed flying at treetop level along the creek at about 10:30.
c. A Broad winged Hawk, Robins, Canadian Geese, and Turkey Vultures were seen.
4. Water tests : The water was clear and clean. The temperature was 45 degrees F, with an air temp of 35 degrees F
5. Microscopic Survey : Algae and Macroinvertebrates were observed in a deep well slide. No Protists were observed. The MotiCam X was used with a battery charged compound microscope and displayed on a ChromeBook.
6. Under Water Video : We used a GoPro camera rigged with a tether and float to capture video of the stream -above and below the water.
