Historical Fungi Inquiries

Pick One topic : 

A. Explore:  Do some web investigating and collect information on a Google Document:

1. The History Connection : Describe the Salem Witch Trials in a paragraph.  Where and when did it occur? 

2. Many researchers have concluded that a fungus was involved. What is the connection?  What is the fungus?

3. Describe the symptoms of exposure to this fungus.

B. Elaborate 

4. What is the risk of being affected by this fungus in the present?  How is our food processed to avoid it? 

C. Evaluate   Create a Google Document electronic POSTER which sums up your thoughts on the connection between the Salem Witch Trials and the Fungus: 

1. Collect some images of the Salem Witch Trial and insert them on the page. Include a caption and/or comments about the image.

2. Find some microscopic images of the fungus and add them to the page. Include a caption and/or comments about the image.

3. Summarize the connection between the Trials and the Fungus in your own words.  You may also add your opinions, along with the facts.

4. It is always a good idea to credit your sources of information.

2. A fungus or Fungus-like organism was involved. What is the connection?  What is the organism?

3. Describe the  pathology to this organism that affected potatoes.

4. What is the risk of  this fungus in the present?  How is our food processed to avoid it? 

C. Evaluate   Create a Google Document electronic POSTER which sums up your thoughts on the connection between the Potato Famine , the Organism, and a little bit of American History:
