2-8 Music Video

Students will create a music Video for a chosen song and express themselves creatively with attention to story and timing.

OBJECTIVES:



OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, students will:

    • Decided on song to animate.

    • Upload song ( if time allows)

    • Animate backdrop ( if time allows)

TEACHER RESOURCES:

Mini-Lesson (5-10 minutes)

Show students the starter project which has 12 songs loaded on the stage. Look inside to show how the backgrounds animate to the music.

Show students how to upload music from another scratch project using either backpack or Remix.

Use this opportunity to talk about creative commons and giving credit to the Artist.


Students choose song: Self Expression.

Song choice can be captures on a googleForm before end of class.

Convert Song to mp3: Video: Converting Songs to Mp3

Teacher converts songs and adds them to a shared folder (eg: Music Folder) available for the next class. YouTube to MP3 sites are not available to students.

Once students have chosen their song, students can practice their ideas by remixing using one of the starter project songs.

Project (20-30 minutes)

Teacher Guidance:

  • Song should be uploaded to the stage as that is a constant throughout the animation.

  • Show students how to upload music from another scratch project using either backpack or Remix.

  • Use this opportunity to talk about creative commons and giving credit to the Artist.

Close-Out (5 minutes)

Share your song idea with your group. Which part do you feel you'd like to animate?

    • CSTA 2-AP-16: Incorporate existing code, media, and libraries into original programs, and give attribution.
