Chipmunk Basic

In 1991, I started my first teaching job. Left behind by the previous teacher (who is now a principal in Maine) was an Apple IIe BASIC programming book. Being interested in fractal geometry, I taught myself how to program in BASIC. I then came across a freeware BASIC interpreter called Chipmunk Basic, which I've been using ever since. I write math programs for my students so they can work at their own pace, get an unlimited amount of practice, be able to visualize math topics, be able to discover ideas in math on their own, study math interactively, personalize hands on projects and be able to do math that can't be done without a computer.
