Slicing Cucumbers

Cucumbers are surprisingly versatile. They're good in salads, chilled soups (Gazpacho, cucumber 'water'), pickles, raw, in cocktails, and, if seeded, stuffed and baked. 

A raw salad that might be familiar involves taking thick chunks of cucumber and tossing it with pitted kalamata olives, feta cheese, oregano, and sweet red peppers.  The exact ratios aren't important, what is important is that two of the ingredients are salty and two of them are sweet. And this is the ratio of this recipe that is important - Salty:Sweet.
