Chives

Chives are commonly used as a garnish, but can take on a larger role in a meal. It's nice sometimes to cut them into 2 inch long pieces and fry them, using them as a kind of sauce for grilled meats or veggies. They can also be chopped together with parsley, capers and shallots mixed with a little olive oil, and used like pesto (any herb can be used in this way). I've used them as a "string" to tie together bundles of green beans before frying or steaming them and you could try to use them to tie up other kinds of food bundles and pouches (Dumplings!).
