Taylor Salazar

Taylor, originally from Northern California, landed in Portland after graduating from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a B.S. in Earth and Environmental Science. During her undergrad, she worked in the Hydrology, Tree-Rings, and Climate Lab as a Research Assistant where she assisted in the development of tree-ring chronologies from diverse tree species across the Western United States and British Columbia, Canada. While doing so, she also worked on an independent research project followed by an honors senior thesis focused on dendroclimatology and water resource management. During her time at UNLV, Taylor formed a passion for studying detailed information stored in tree rings such as climate variability which controls changes in Earth’s water cycle. Her specific interests are in hydroclimate, water resources, and the impacts of climate extremes. When not counting tree-rings, she can be found spending time outdoors with her partner and dogs, reading, and hiking.
