Andrés studies and mentors students and postdocs studying the effects of disturbances on ecological spatial and temporal patterns and processes in temperate forests, primarily in the Pacific Northwest and Patagonia. He teaches courses on Physical Geography, Forest Ecology, Wildfire Ecology and Management (co-taught, field-based, and summer only), Landscape Ecology, and Research Methods (co-taught). When not working, he enjoys hiking and camping in the woods with his family, gardening, reading, or playing music.
