Isaac Ball

Isaac, a Utah native, hopped across the river to join the lab after graduating from Reed College with a degree in environmental studies and biology. Considering himself a dendroecologist, Isaac works with tree-cores to answer questions about forest health and climate resilience. His undergraduate thesis assessed multi-specie response to stand density reduction at the Ashland watershed in Southern Oregon. He also assisted the lab previously as a field technician investigating the die-back of western red cedar across the Pacific Northwest. Isaac’s love for the outdoors and any time spent in it drives his research interests and passion for ecology. He wants to help find research-informed management solutions to help forests adapt to changing climate conditions in the PNW. Outside of his academic work, Isaac spends most summers working as a fishing guide in the Prince William Sound of Alaska or just finding any excuse to be outside.
