Alex Bentley

Originally from McKinleyville California, Alex is a Forest Ecologist who received his B.A. in Environmental Studies and Biology from Reed College in 2023. His research interests center around identifying the drivers of forest mortality and resiliency under the influences of climate change through remote sensing, ecophysiological, and dendrochronological techniques. Alex seeks to work with land managers to incorporate the findings of his research into management practices that enhance forests’ resiliency to climate change. In the GEC lab, Alex is working on identifying the drivers of mortality for Douglas Fir and species from the Abies genus in Southern and Central Oregon. Outside of his studies, Alex enjoys the outdoors, movies, fitness, video games, and sports, as well as spending time with his friends and family.
