Halima Najihi is a Research Scholar in the Geography Department at Portland State University. A native of Morocco, she graduated from the National School of Forestry Engineers in Salé, Morocco where she laid a strong foundation in ecology and natural resource management. She further specialized in environmental modeling and water resource management during her studies at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza and the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain.
At Portland State, Halima is diving into post-fire restoration and forest ecosystem resilience. Equipped with a blend of field expertise and technical skills in GIS and R, she is passionate about understanding how forests can bounce back after wildfires.
Outside the lab, Halima is an avid runner who explores Portland one trail at a time. She’s also a fan of novels with twist endings and is always on the lookout for unexpected plots—whether in books or in life.
