Launch Pad

Launch Pad is the student newspaper of OJSHS. All students in grades 7-12 are welcome to join the staff. We meet a minimum of monthly during homeroom.  Meeting days may vary. Staffers are responsible for writing stories that are newsworthy to our school community. Editors proofread and revise those stories, as well as layout the publication.   We also co-host the annual trivia night with the WYSE team 

We hold memberships with Quill & Scroll (an international honor society for high school journalists), the Southern Illinois School Press Association, and Illinois Journalism Education Association.
High school members can compete in individual journalism events at SISPA and IHSA Sectionals and State.
