Rubric for Invention Project
1.) Students will make improvements on an everyday object
--OR-- They will invent a new product
2.) Students will work together in groups of 2 or 3
- Everyone brainstorms ideas and shares ideas
- Decide on jobs: writer, drawer, colorer, assembler
- All names listed on product or drawing, on ad, and on paragraph
3.) Students will create their product using paper, tape, glue, etc.
--OR-- Provide a DETAILED and COLORFUL drawing of the invention
4.) Students will create a magazine ad for the product, including:
- Title of product
- A picture
- Price of the product
- Why it would “cool” for someone to buy?
5.) Students will write a paragraph of their product:
- Remember - at least 5 sentences, correct spelling, grammar, punctuation!
- How did you come up with the idea?
- Who makes it and How would it be made?
- What does the product do?
- Is it on the market, why or why not?
- Why is it useful and be beneficial to others?
SCORING --- TOTAL 35 points
* Invention Idea or Improvement Idea ____________ 5 points
* Group participation __________ 5 points
* Creation product (made or detailed drawing) ___________ 10 points
* Magazine Ad ___________ 5 points
* Paragraph ___________ 10 points
