SC16 HPC Training Workshop Call for Submissions - Due May 1

Post date: Apr 19, 2016 3:26:30 PM

A workshop entitled “Third SC Workshop on Best Practices for HPC Training” has been selected for inclusion at the SC16 Conference on Monday, November 14, 2016 from 9 AM to 12:30 PM. Organized by the International HPC Training Consortium, the goal of this workshop is to bring together individuals from HPC Centers from all countries to share expertise and best practices for in-person, web-based and asynchronous HPC training for the community on HPC skills.

We are seeking presentations for this year’s SC16 workshop. We plan to have a few short presentations followed by open discussions with the audience. The goal of the workshop is to foster collaborative activities that members of the International HPC Training Consortium may pursue throughout the following year. Monthly calls will follow to allow the consortium members to discuss and collaborate on topics of common interest.

Everyone attending the workshop must register for a SC16 workshop and pay the related registration fee.

A preliminary workshop agenda is posted on this website. The agenda is subject to change based on the submissions from the community. We welcome submissions from the community for short (about 10 minutes) presentations. These may include panel sessions (15 to 20 minutes). We are interested in topics related to HPC training such as, but not limited to, the following:

    • Successes resulting from previous HPC training workshops

  • Collaborative efforts to develop and/or deliver HPC training

  • Challenges and opportunities for advancing HPC training

  • Best practices in developing and delivering HPC training

  • Competencies, assessments and evaluation strategies

  • Best practices via webcast and asynchronous modalities

  • Access by people with disabilities

  • Strategies to identify and fill training gaps

  • Scaling from face-to-face events to large distributed audiences

  • A review and assessment of existing HPC training material repositories

Submissions should include:

  • Author(s) including name, email and institutional affiliation

  • Title of presentation

  • 2 to 4 paragraph description of what would be included in the presentation

  • Describe any expected outcomes from this presentation

  • Provide 2 to 3 questions you would ask the audience to encourage discussion

Please send your submission to Scott Lathrop lathrop@illinois.edu by Sunday, May 1 for full consideration.

We are actively recruiting people from around the world to join the International HPC Training Consortium. There is no cost to join. To join, please send the name, email, institutional affiliation and position title of interested individuals to Scott Lathrop at lathrop@illinois.edu.

We look forward to your participation!

Sincerely,

International HPC Training Consortium
