The department disability coordinator will meet and discuss the request for reasonable accommodation and the information gathered regarding the permanent work restrictions, the essential functions of the position, and the reasonable accommodation options available to overcome the job-related limitations, with the Head of the department. An effective accommodation will meet the needs of the individual by addressing the barrier created by the functional limitations and does not impose an undue hardship on the employer.
Upon selecting the reasonable accommodation that is most appropriate for both the employee and the department, the department disability coordinator will forward the proposed accommodation and supporting documentation of the accommodation efforts to the Reasonable Accommodation Review Committee.
