An effective accommodation is one that meets the needs of the individual by addressing the barrier created by the functional limitations and does not impose an undue hardship on the employer. In order to reach such an accommodation, we must understand the employee's job-related limitations that conflict with one or more of the essential functions of an employee's position. Written verification of the employee's limitations from an appropriate medical provider will be required which identifies:
the physical or mental limitations imposed by the disability, condition, or impairment; and
for each limitation, the expected duration and whether it is permanent or temporary.
